The Concept
A Modern Garden Party Wedding
As I knew the wedding was set outside and the reception to be held in an evening tent, I hoped to capture the elegant motion of the happy couple's engagement photos while also giving it a modern flair that Maggie loves!
The way I hoped to accomplish this was by using gestural shapes and negative space to give both form and motion to the piece.

The design started as a gesture tracing and the shapes eventually filled in accordingly.
The design very much matched with the vision of the bride and groom, but it was still lacking some of the more classical ornament that would be properly reflective of the ceremony and reception. In addition to being an excellent visual language to communicate the event is a wedding. The flowering ring also gave the composition a much needed air of elegance and ornament while also enclosing the couple into a space - amplifying the intimacy of the composition.
The final addition of color and typography was the most straightforward step.
The color were the handpicked colors of the bride and groom -- forest green and cream respectively.
Austin Pen Bold fit with the minimal, ornate and elegant design of the central graphic, while Garamond is an excellent and stylish Serif that makes for excellent legibility.
All that was left was to print samples that fit the print specs of the paper!
The final product was printed on 5" x 7.5" at 300 DPI as a PDF
